I don't see a way to change the default locations for saving or opening documents from the cloud to my Mac. For me, saving to a folder in my documents folder requires several steps, not just two. So when I pull up my weather widget, it tells me Toronto KS, but I need Toronto ON. I did look for a button that may say edit, but so far no luck.

Software :: Changing Application Directory Location?

I'm fairly new to the Mac OS, having just bought my first mac not too terribly long ago. I have it installed on a 20-GB hard disk, and have run out of room. I'm wanting to migrate my Applications directory off of the root of my primary drive and onto my second 320 GB drive.

I have 4 weather widgets (the standard one that came with OS X). And after a restart, some of them have gone up a bit, or down. So as you can imagine with 4 of them, it can get unorganized if I don't move them back to their original positions.

I haven't seen the sun all day. Not only that, but I can hear thunder, see lightning and judging by the very dark shade of the clouds around my house, I can pretty much say it's damn sure about to start pouring. What I'm getting at is that this widget has shown nothing but sunshine all day and all night tonight. The temperatures seem to be close, but that's about it. Just curious if anyone else noticed any inaccuracy with this Accuweather widget.

My weather widget currently says that it's raining. I'm sitting right here, looking out my window, and the sun is shining brightly. The Weather Channel says that it's sunny, Yahoo says it's sunny, but AccuWeather.com says it's raining. Can I change it to use another source?

I have been hearing that Apple has switched from using AccuWeather to Weather.com (The Weather Channel) for the weather Dashboard widget in Snow Leopard. Is this true? Anyone with the WWDC build or the newer build. The fact that my iPod touch (weather.com / yahoo) weather app and OS X dashboard (AccuWeather) never match is kind of annoying.

IMac :: Moving Weather Widget In Snow Leopard

I know there are some other threads on this, but none seem to have a definitive answer. So this issue happened on my previous MacBook Pro with Leopard and then again with Snow Leopard. Now, it's happening again on my brand new 27' iMac. Every time I restart and bring up the dashboard, my weather widget loads and then jumps down a quarter of an inch or so on the screen. How can I stop this from happening and why hasn't Apple fixed this after 2 years?

I got my MBP only a couple of days ago , but noticed that my Calendar and Accuweather widgets seem to have changed the font style.The numbers are hollow, instead of solid, which makes it hard to read. Is this normal, and is there any way to change it?

MacBook Pro :: Is It Normal When I Download A Widget, Application The File Drops On Desktop

I am new to a mac and have the download setting set up to drop on desktop when I download something.
My question is that I downloaded some widgets today for the desktop like 'The Weather Channel' one. When it finished downloaded, it appeared on the desktop as two files a zip file and another file. I then had to click on it to run it but in the end I had to move the zip file to the trash after I was done installing it. Is that normal. Should there be two files each time. Do I need to turn on/off a setting.
Also happened when I clicked on a video to watch, I was streaming it but when I flashed to my desktop it downloaded it also. Is this normal.

ITunes :: Changing Storage Location With Media In The New Storage Location?

Equipment: Mac Mini (Early 2009), Intel Core 2 Duo, 2 GHz, 4 GB RAM, Lion. I started noticing my Mac Mini was having trouble reconnecting my Bluetooth mouse and keyboard, slow processing (spinning pinwheel of death), and programs freezing. I did a recovery within Lion from the recovery drive and it seemed to work for a week or so. It started acting up again. So, I decided to erase the HD and reinstall Lion. I basically use the Mac Mini as a server for all my iTunes content.
My iTunes default save location is to my Drobo storage unit. Now that I have reinstalled Lion, I am looking for the easiest, most convenient, and safest way to change the default save location in iTunes and then importing the media. It would be nice if it was possible to just simply change the default save location to the folder I previously had all my media saved in and it would just magically appear in iTunes. Everything was organized perfectly, which took hours of time and attention to details.

can you change the opening location of a folder?
When I open up any of my folders from my desktop (Macintosh HD, My Documents) the folder is on the far right of the screen with about a quarter of it off the screen. It gets annoying to have to drag it onto the screen every time, then as soon as I quit and open it back up, it's back in that spot.

I changed the account preferences (in the System Preferences) so that the username is pointed to Data/users/username
The Finder icon in the dock still opens to to Programs/users/username, even after rebooting. All other apps appear to be using Data/users/username for saving files and other stuff.

I have a strange problem at least to me. Recently I moved my iTunes library to an external drive and all went fine. I used the consolidation tool to achieve the task and all went just fine. Since doing this every time I open iTunes the location of the library has changed back to my local drive.
For example...
I set it to: volumesmediaiTunes Media
and it is automatically changed to: usersmemusiciTunesiTunes Media

I used to have it so that whenever I take a screenshot it would go to a folder of my choice. But I have recently put a new hard drive in my MacBook and thus have a new Leopard install and do not remember how I originally set this up because it was such a long time ago.

Well i'm trying to burn a disk image onto a DVD-DRL using disk utilities. I get everything all into disk utility and the blank cd is there and the DMG. When i select burn and the burn options comes down, It only allows me to burn to the super drive and not to the blank DVD. OS X :: Changing User Folder/subfolders Location To Other Partition?

I just installed a new harddrive and I made 2 partitions. One for my system, preferences and installed programs and one for my files.
The problem comes when i put things on my desktop or download stuff. These folders are on my system partition and when i download or save to the desktop temporarely, i have to copy the files later to my other partition and delete the original.
It would save me a lot of time if downloaded files and files saved to the desktop are written on my documents partition.
hence the question: is there any way to change your desktop and downloads folder location to another location/drive?

I want to change screenshot location from my Solid State hard drive with OSX on it, to my 2nd storage hard drive, how do I do this? I am aware of 'defaults write com.apple.screencapture *location*' but I want to change the location to my 2nd drive which doesn't have OSX on it, every time I've tried to insert MacintoshHD2 in there it just doesn't work?

It really ***** me that Office 2004 places the Microsoft User Data folder in your Users/Accountname/Documents folder, and if you move it it just makes a new one Is there any reliable way to move the location to somewhere else and keep it that way? The Documents folder should be the realm of the user and the user alone, damn applications should keep their noses out!

Software :: IMovie Application Not Found In Location / Applications

An eligible iMovie application was not found in the location /Applications. My 17' Macbook Pro CAME WITH imovie '08 (which never worked), however I downloaded the 7.1.4 version and it worked fine. Recently I had to reinstall my entire OS X software system, which erased all my files. When I did, the bundle did NOT include imovie '08, nor can I get imovie 7.1.4 to work! All I get is this message instead. What can I do, and is there a way to recover my itunes library since my ipod is registered with Apple and itunes, however, now all my music is gone.

OS X :: Widget Disappearing From Dashboard / Day In History Widget Has Become Invisible

My day in history widget has become invisible when I open up the dashboard.. Invisible but not gone because when I click in the icon in the list at the bottom of the page it sort of semi appears on the page but disappears with an effect like ripples in a pond (,which is in it's self a fantastic effect) The cross is still there in the top right corner though.
Any ideas as to what I have cocked up now

Anyway, I just recieved MBA 11' as a xmas gift. i liked its applications (ie garage band, ical, dashboard etc.) but because i have been using Windows (XP,vista and windows 7 at the moment) ever since i had my first pc, i am not really comfortable on navigating my way through this laptop.
question: i know i can change my os, but by doing so, will i lose those applications mentioned? and if i will, can i ever get them back (but with windows still installed)? also, is there any way to marge the two and get the best of both worlds (windows os + MBA applications)?
